Generally, the rule of thirds is a sort of composition which places your subject in the left or right of an image, leaving the order two-thirds more open. The rule of thirds is mainly used in photography, landscape design, architectural design, etc. At present
it is also apply when you serve the dish or food plate to your guest.

Why apply “The rule of thirds” to decorate a food plate:
When you decorate a serving dish or plate then the serving dish or plate might be a canvas to you. If you serve, an eye-catching food plate to your guest, his/her eyes scan the dish much like a picture from the lower left to the upper right. If you wish to decorate a food plate by following the rule of thirds keep in mind that no more than two-thirds of the plate should be covered with food.

How to apply the rule of thirds:
There are a lot of ways in which you can easily use the guideline to make a lovely display, here I will share with you how to arrange the rule of thirds to decorate your food plate.
Keep the food in a three-sided, triangle shape. This serves as an eye-soothing view for your guests.
You also wish to leave about one-third of the plate empty. The blank space will give the plate an elegant look and enhances appetite. This is especially important in the summertime, when white space may provide a cooling effect.
You may include three types of food on the plate usually in three colors- red, green, yellow.
