It is a traditional Bangladeshi food. If you have any idea about South Asian religious festival meals then you may know that the Muslims of Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan celebrate “Shab-E-Barat” a kind of religious festival with various types of halwa(dessert), such as the halwa or delight of chickpeas, flour, semolina, egg, carrot, and many.
Today, I will share with you the recipe for chickpeas delight. In Bangladesh, the people called it “Boot er halwa”. Though South Asian Muslims celebrate Shab-E-Barat with varieties of halwa, in Bangladesh “ Booter halwa” is probably a mandatory dish.
I have already said that it is a traditional dessert. I observe that my grandmother, mother, and other people cook it in a very time-consuming process. But now I myself try to make it easy and quick. In the traditional process, people first boil the chickpeas and blend them. Then they start to make the dessert. It takes too much time because chickpeas take many times to boil.
Today I will share with you my unique recipe for chickpeas delight. Let’s start:
Ingredients:
Dried chickpeas powder: 2 cups
Sugar: 2 cups
Liquid milk: 5 cups
Butter/ghee: 1 cup
Cinnamon: 2 medium size
Chopped nuts(optional): 1 cup
Method of cooking:
You may grind the chickpeas or buy the chickpeas powder from super shop.
Take a pan and heat it. Pour the chickpeas powder and stir it for 5 minutes.
Keep it cool.
Take a bowl. Mix all ingredients except butter or ghee.
Take a pan. Add butter or ghee. When it becomes heat then pour the mixture and continuously stir it.
Most probably after 15 or 20 minutes, the mixture becomes a gravy texture. So your Boot er Halwa is ready to serve.
If you wish to cut it in a cookie shape then stir it for more than 10 minutes. When it becomes a sticky texture, turn off the burner.
Pour it on a tray. Let it cook and cut your desired shape.

Cooking time: 35 minutes.
Food value: Enriched with full of nutrients. You can get the plant-based protein that boosts your immunity and mental health.
You will serve it as a dessert after lunch or dinner, or you will grab it as a heavy meal with bread. Taste? Truly awesome!
